St. Francis Claret
From the Winery: For more than four decades, the wines of St. Francis Winery & Vineyards have reflected the finest mountain and valley vineyards in Sonoma County. Our founder, Joe Martin, fell in love with Sonoma Valley and established St. Francis Vineyard in 1971, planting 22 acres of Chardonnay and the first 60 acres of Merlot in Sonoma Valley.
Claret is the British inspired name for an elegant red blend of classic Bordeaux varietals, in this case Merlot, Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon. This blend is juicy and expressive with layered aromas of cranberry, cherry cola and currants merging with vibrant flavors of dark red berries and spices. The creamy entry finishes smooth yet structured.
An excellent companion to roast beef, boeuf bourguignon, grilled or roasted lamb, aged Cheddar and blue cheese.
Blend: 50% Merlot, 30% Malbec, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon
This old-school blend of Merlot, Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon shows ample body and flavor in its unfussy approach to succulent red fruit and subdued tannin. Moderate in build, it has dusty acidity and a soft finish that will please a wide range of palates.
